Our English for Academic Preparation Diploma (EAP) program (12 weeks) is designed to provide students with the academic and practical communication skills necessary to be successful in a post-secondary education program or an English-language work environment. This program focuses on discussion and critical thinking, listening, reading comprehension, vocabulary skills, and fluency and accuracy in spoken and written English.
Students are expected to be active participants in classroom activities and discussions. Upon successful completion, students will be granted an English for Academic Preparation diploma.
Admission Requirements
- 18 Years of Age or Older
- EAP placement test with a minimum level of EAP300
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this program, the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ablitiy to:
- Hold a conversation, and express points of view
- Use phrasal verbs and idioms to establish an informal conversation
- Report details of a conversation to a third person
- Give oral presentations
- Make social plans, including giving and accepting invitations
- Write short everyday texts, including emails, letters, and consumer reviews
- Write academic texts, including paragraphs, a basic essay, and a short story
- Read and comprehend course textbooks
